I spent a majority of the years 2010-2013 in the New York City subway systems playing my saxophone into the night. This is where I found inspiration and peace. The constant hum of conversation, trains passing and the liminal silence that pervades those spaces brought a new dimension to my perception of music and altered how I interact with my environment musically. In other words, I began playing with the sound around me. My environment was my accompaniment. This freed a lot of things up for me.
